MUNCH | Food Bank Chef App
9.3 | 1.0.2
Support your local food bank! Foodbanks rely on the support of volunteers in their local communities and provide emergency food and support for local people.
With a huge increase in the number of households struggling with food insecurity in the UK in recent months, the MUNCH food bank app helps you navigate the food bank system to get help from your local food bank.
GET HELP
The MUNCH food bank app helps you:
• find help to obtain food
• get vouchers to access food banks
• obtain information about how to access help
• learn how to cook tasty, healthy meals on a tight budget
Food bank volunteers are driven by love, compassion and the willingness to help. It is their aim to take the time to listen and make you feel supported during your visit to the food bank. They are specially trained to identify and offer practical guidance to help tackle the underlying cause of your referral to the food bank and will work with you to make sure you have access to appropriate support.
Foodbank clients take their voucher to a foodbank centre where it can be redeemed for three days emergency food. You will receive a warm welcome, a hot drink and a food parcel, and while you are waiting for your food parcel to be prepared, a volunteer will have an informal chat with you about your situation and, as appropriate, signpost you to further support.
VOLUNTEER AND DONATE
MUNCH also helps people find out how to volunteer at their local foodbank and donate food, to support them with the increased pressure on their vital services.
Supporters can also donate financially to support their local foodbank charities via our partners, Charity Checkout. Funds are distributed to the food bank charities to support their efforts in the community: the Trussell Trust, FareShare, GiveFood and the Felix Project.
TASTY RECIPES & CELEBRITY CHEFS
MUNCH combines this with cheap, tasty recipes from some of the world’s top celebrity chefs, helping you to make the most of the food in your fridge.
Working closely with the Bite Back 2030 charity, founded by Jamie Oliver, we are also partnering with some fantastic chefs, including:
